Change can be good

Dear Editor:

While no city wants to go through what ours is about to go through, remember change is good for a city. And we are headed for change! Now that we have shed some light on how our city has been run for years, and now that the legal system is about to clean up what Deerfield Beach residents could not, we look forward to a bright future with new competent leaders with vision and financial responsibility.

The most telling sign of the last week’s news was that Mr. Gonot found it responsible and professional to do the right thing and resign while our Mayor, in his arrogant and ignorant style, was forcibly removed by our Governor.

You are one classy guy, Mr. Capellini.

Helping restore pride to Deerfield Beach

Dear Editor:

I would like to bring to your attention the best candidate to fill the vacant position of the city commissioner in District 4, previously held by Steve Gonot. Jamie Marlow is a resident in District 4 and is an independent. He is not politically aligned with either candidate seeking the office in the upcoming election, nor does he have any ties with the former commissioner Steve Gonot or our very embarrassing mayor [Al] Capellini.

The city of Deerfield cannot stand another negative round of publicity that existed under the Gonot/Capellini reign. Have we all forgotten the city manager mess we are still paying for?

Mr. Marlow is a great citizen who has served his country for many years. He will bring to the office honesty, integrity, truth and most of all — fairness.

I have seen many other names floating about to fill this position. Some are good friends of mine. Some I may support in the upcoming election, but for now, we need a change to honesty and fairness. We need someone that is not aligned with any of the players and someone that will help restore pride to the City of Deerfield Beach.

Please place Jamie Marlow’s name in nomination and please vote him in for the interim. It is the right thing to do.
