Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dear Editor:

It is getting to be that time, my friends, to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. Last year, I was appalled when I went in some schools and saw no sign of a Christmas tree in the entrance way as in the past Christmases.  There was always a huge Christmas tree greeting the public. We live in the United States.

Ben Stein put it in a nice way by saying “I am a Jew and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish, and it does not bother me, not a even a little bit, when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees. I do not feel threatened. I do not feel discriminated against, as that is what they are: Christmas trees. And it doesn’t bother me in the least when people say Merry Christmas to me, as I do not feel they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto.”

I just wish everyone would be a Ben Stein!  It is Christmas and a Christmas tree and manger are in order. And it doesn’t bother me in the least that there is a Menorah next to them. It is time we all acted like brothers and sisters and not always ready to damn someone if they do not think and believe the way they do.

I would also love to see a picture hanging on the school walls of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln next to our beautiful flag in the schools and public buildings. It is time, my friends, that we took America back to what it once was and what it stood for: One Nation Under God! I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year. I will never wish anyone a Happy Holiday (this greeting makes my skin crawl), regardless of who you are, as in the long run we are all brothers and sisters in this world. God bless everyone, as Tiny Tim once said, and always with brotherly love.
